Doman Blogs and Resources - Other Moms that Have Helpful Materials

There are really some amazing mothers in the world.  And so many great and helpful resources and ideas that they share.  Here are some of my favorites.  I would LOVE to hear about your favorite resources.  I love the Doman mother blogs...sometimes it gives me just the encouragement and ideas that I need to keep going forward on rough days.

This blog is incredible!  She has some great ideas, great checklists, and great personal stories. A few of my favorite resources from her website as follows:

This is a blog that documents some daily efforts with the Doman early learning program.

Bit of Intelligence Cards: My Favorite Websites and Resources

Creating Bit of Intelligence cards can seem overwhelming. And I am not going to lie...its plenty of work!  But I find that I learn so much in the process of preparing them.  And my LO absolutely loves looking at the pictures.

Of all of the Doman exercises we have done so far, Bit of Intelligence cards is by far her favorite activity. In fact, it is one of her favorite activities, period.  I also feel like I can really tell that, even at 9 months old, it seems to increase her awareness and curiosity of items around her.

I find that in order to get 10-Doman style bits, I have to search a handful of websites for each item.  Here are some of the websites and resources that I have found to be the most useful for me to create the Bits:

1.  softschools.com

Softschools.com has a number of resources for learning.  Their "facts" page is great for Bit of Intelligence cards.

2.   Just Fun Facts

https://www.justfunfacts.com

This website has their facts written and tailored for children.  It also includes facts that are interested to children.  The website has a search function/bar at the top of the webpage so that you can search for something specific.  Also, they have the following categories:
  • animals
  • architecture
  • art
  • food
  • nature
  • people
  • places
  • space
Their content is reasonably limited but helpful.  And I hope that they keep adding more.

3. Kids search engine

https://www.kiddle.co

This is basically a cross between Wikipedia and google for children.  It searches websites that tailor to children on each given topic.  It also contains some of its own encyclopedia facts.

4.  Image result for national geographic kids image

This website has some great pictures, facts and resources.  It is searchable but it is also organized into helpful categories, etc. The articles are written in a kid friendly matter and focus on ideas and images to draw in children.

Britannica does a great job organizing their content and illustrating with pictures and graphics.

Just like it sounds...this website lists "ten random facts" for identified items. There are some category grouping but the main navigation feature is the search bar.

7.  https://www.wikipedia.com

Not a surprise, Wikipedia has a lot of helpful information.  I find that the information can be dense and hard to sift through to make it interesting for children.

What are your favorite resources?  Would love some ideas?
